On the 4th of November 2023, the Elevate(her) Team attended a fantastic event for women in aviation hosted by IWM Duxford.
It was the first event of its kind, with all of the days speakers being women! the event started off looking at the history of women in aviation, and worked forwards towards looking at women in aviation today. Our Founder Katherine Moloney was one of the speakers for the event.
This project started in 2022 with the inaugural Women In Aviation Lunch held at Brighton City Airport. It was the first of its kind and was created as an opportunity for women from all areas of the aviation industry to come together to share experiences, network, and talk all things aviation.
I initially created this event as I felt I didn’t know any other female pilots!
With many women in aviation spread out across the country, it can feel lonely at times whether you are learning to fly, or working in the industry. During the first lunch, I discovered I wasn’t the only one who felt this way!
The women I spoke to on that day inspired me to take this initiative forward, and create a space where women in aviation can feel connected, inspired, encouraged and challenged.
Elevate(her) contains pages to help:
Inform potential female pilots, and women in aviation of scholarship and work opportunities available. It can be hard to find this information across all of the different organisations! So Elevate(her) will be collecting as many opportunities as possible in one place.
Educate, by providing a list of flight training operations; as finding the right flight school for you is a key part of your aviation journey, as well as pages to assist with career guidance, aptitude testing and more!
Inspire, by sharing content created by women in aviation who inspire and encourage us to challenge ourselves. This is a really positive aspect of social media! as the adage goes - “you can’t be, what you can’t see!”
Support female lead aviation and STEM business. It is challenging being a women in the aviation business! (trust me I know!) and it is important for us to support and promote each other.
Connect women in aviation through the annual Elevate(her) lunch. Which has gone from strength, to strength and will continue to connect more and more women from all areas of the aviation industry.
I am excited for the future of this platform, and I will be looking for more ways to support female pilots…watch this space!

Of almost 30,000 pilots in the UK, fewer than 5% are women, but one aviator has set up a support network in a bid to help others get their wings.
When Katherine Moloney began flying, she did not know any other female pilots.
Keen to connect with likeminded women, she organised a lunch at Brighton City Airport.
Forty people from across the industry showed up and Elevate Her Aviation was born...
