I have been working in the aviation industry for 7 years, and I am a woman in aviation.
A bit of background about me...I started working in the warehouse at Transair Flight Equipment when I finished school at 18, I love the job, the people I work with and the company! I have done pretty much every role at Transair over the years from warehouse, to sales, retail and attending aviation exhibitions. However, now my main job is Marketing. I was appointed as a company Director 2 years ago.
While I was working in the warehouse at Transair, my love of aviation began in earnest. I was given the opportunity to have a trial lesson in a helicopter at Advance Helicopters at Brighton City Airport in an R44. This trial lesson ignited my passion and I went on to complete my PPL (H) in 2018 at the age of 19. Currently I have over 350 rotary hours in piston and turbine helicopters.
General Aviation is my passion. One of the main reasons I love this area of the industry so much is the variety, and the different facets of aviation you can explore. After a few years of flying helicopters and building some hours I wanted to improve my airmanship, and explore other areas of aviation.
I had my first fixed wing trial lesson in 2020. I was extremely lucky with my fixed wing training and had an incredible instructor, and mentor. My fixed wing training improved my aviating massively! Not just in the T67 Firefly, but in the helicopter too. I passed my PPL (A) in 2022, almost 4 years to the day after attaining my helicopter licence.
I understand that I have been incredibly fortunate in my journey into aviation, and I am very grateful for the opportunities I have had. Therefore, I want to use this in a positive way to help the aviation industry wherever I can, particular in the area of encouraging young people and women into the industry.
In 2022 I became a Department for Transport Aviation Ambassador, and had the opportunity to work with some incredibly inspiring people and get involved in important projects. I am very excited to continue this role for a second term in 2023.
The 1st of July 2022 sparked the beginning of the ELEVATE [her] project, with my first Women in Aviation Lunch at Brighton City Airport. This event was a huge leap into the unknown, and the start of something very exciting.
My goal for the future is to support, and encourage more women and young people into aviation wherever I can. Whether it is to fly commercially, be an engineer or air traffic controller or simply to fly because it is your passion.
With my own flying, who knows where it will take but it is going to be fun!
